Privacy policy

Last updated August 6, 2026

This policy describes how Briefena handles account, watchlist, briefing, and service-security information.

Information you provide

Briefena stores your email address, display name, watchlist requests, delivery preferences, source choices, relevance feedback, and communications you choose to send us.

Passwords are protected with strong one-way hashing and a unique random salt. Briefena cannot view or recover your original password. Sign-in, email-verification and password-reset codes are also stored in protected form.

Monitoring objectives may reveal personal interests. We will treat them as private account data and will not publish or sell them.

How information is used

Information is used to authenticate accounts, operate watchlists, select relevant sources, generate briefings, deliver email, improve relevance, provide support, and protect the service from abuse.

Automated processing is used to classify and summarize published information. Briefena does not use watchlist requests to make consequential decisions about individuals.

Service providers

Briefena uses Cloudflare for website delivery and proxying, Microsoft Azure for application hosting and encrypted database storage, Azure Communication Services for account emails, and OpenAI for live web discovery and synthesis. Each provider receives only the information required to perform its role.

Paddle acts as merchant of record for paid subscriptions and processes payment, tax, invoice, transaction, customer, and subscription information under its own privacy terms. Briefena stores Paddle customer, subscription, price, status, and billing-period identifiers needed to provide paid access, but does not receive complete card details.

Retention and control

Account information and briefing history will be retained while an account is active and for a limited period afterward where needed for security, legal, or accounting purposes.

Users can pause or delete watchlists and permanently delete their account from Settings. Account deletion removes login sessions, watchlists, source choices, briefing history, subscription access and the account record.
